Xbox Should Create Wired Versions of Controllers
As someone who doesn't like wireless controllers, I think Xbox should either create their own version of wired controllers or work with partners to create better quality wired controllers overall.
Just on that topic (I know its not a perfect solution) the Xbox Elite Controller comes with a beautiful good quality USB cable its about 2.5 to 3 meters long and I have had no issues with its connection into the back of the controller, unlike many 3rd party USB cables I had bought in the past to plug into my standard controller's.
I'm just like you (Old School) and much prefer a cable than wireless.
As pointed out you can turn your wirless controller into a wired one with a micro USB but in most cases the micro USB dose not fit well into the back of the controller and wriggles around a tad. This leads to the escutcheon (the bit that surrounds the socket) becoming warped and needing to be bent back into shape so it holds the plug snugly but this is not recommended as you can damage your controller if it is not done with care and also its only a temp fix as it will get bent out of shape again.
The lead and possibly a better socket that come with the Elite controller do not seem to suffer from this issue. I am 4 months into ownership of my elite controller and its been used as a wired controller with the supplied micro usb cable

Even further: wired controller with the original pull-the-cord patent. Missing it so much.
I would prefer to have a wired controller from XBOX!

These garbage micro USB controllers are just a cop-out. They're flimsy and unreliable. Bring back the true wire controllers like they had for the 360. Besides, I'm pretty sure most people don't play Xbox from more than 10 feet from your TV. Also, this would cut down on battery waste and would be a huge PR gain for Xbox.
Can't you already turn your controller into wired, with a micro USB cable.

We're already seeing the changes begin with the Xbox Adaptive Controller including USB-C. I believe it's time to take the next step with the standard Xbox Controller, and give it the durable, reversible connector it deserves.
